Twitpitching…it’s not what you think

As many business insideers know, developing an effective elevator pitch is one of the hardest things to do. You want to showcase the glory of your product or business, and doing that in 30 seconds or less can be downright impossible.

Well know things have gotten even harder. Introducing the twitpitch. Instead of 30 seconds, or 150 words, to state your case, you’re given 140 characters. Twitter, the micro-blogging website that’s sweeping our ADD riddled nation, has now become the preferred resource for quick pitches on products, services, and companies.

Stowe Boyd, an information technology consultant, recently decided that he will only accept pitches through Twitter in the following formats:

1. @stoweboyd [pitch without the brackets] #twitpitch. (The # symbol means this post will be available at  www.hashtags.org/tag/twitpitch)

2. @stoweboyd [ONE url] #twitpitch

3. @stoweboyd [proposed time to meet or call, again without the brackets] #twitpitch

Anyone not following the format rules will be marked as spam after 3 failed attempts.

So is this a reasonable evolution of business PR? Can anyone expect this to really catch on or is Stowe Boyd going to be extremely dissappointed? Can’t we just say we are preventing that annoying salesman with the nasally voice from ruining our morning?
