Flex is a framework for building powerful applications for both the web (using Adobe Flash) and your desktop (using Adobe Air). If you are not currently using it for your site, you either don’t have a web application for your customers, you spent way more time and energy than you needed to making it cross browser/OS compatible or you haven’t heard about Flex.
For those of you with web applications who want to make them work on all major browsers and/or operating systems without the headache of cross browser/OS compatibility, head over to adobe and pick up a free trial of Flex Builder or have one of your developers watch the Flex Project Demo to see how a basic project is coded.
If you don’t have a web application, don’t panic:
- write out one of those great ideas you have been storing for a rainy day and have one built.
- find inspiration by scanning through a brief list of apps or take a look at a simple yet effective one from Sherwin-Williams
- hire a marketing/consulting agency to build out a few concepts for potential applications
- wait patiently for a future post about brainstorming web applications for your customers
