Too politically correct?

I found this ad on another blog and thought the point was right on. This is a banned ad for XBox. I think it’s brilliant. Completely epitomizes the way you play a video game. But it was probably deemed “too violent” or glamorizes the use of guns. Personally I just think it looks really cool.  This is like playing a game of war when you were a little kid but times 100.

My favorite part is the guy on his cell phone in the car. Towards the end. Hilarious.

Do you know from which television channels it was banned? It would be interesting to know if programming for that specific channel is also “politically” correct or if they allow shows that exude violence but not commercials promoting games that do also.

I wonder whether it was actually banned or if it was just called
“banned” by microsoft to assist in its viral growth. Releasing an ad for the web as a “Banned” ad accomplishes a few things. It first of all peaks the interest of people who are looking for something a little more titillating than they would normally see, and it lets people know that they can’t see it on TV and that they should spread the word about it, since it is after all totally work safe.

I totally love the ad by the way.

That’s a very good point. Developing a commercial just for the web and then calling it banned would defintiely give it some legs.

But as you said, the ad rocks anyway.
