proof that ad spend is related to organic?

This article goes into the potentially shady aspects of Matt Cutts’ move to Performics, an agency attached to Double Click that Google acquired when they bought the ad network. The last paragraph outlines some “requirements” for SEO services when dealing with the provider:

 ”Google is now selling SEO services through Performics. An investigative team recently contacted Performics directly and was told that Performics was unable to offer SEO services to anyone not spending over $1Million U.S. per year with Google AdSense. This seems to be strong evidence that there is in fact a correlation between Paid Search spending and organic rankings, as long suspected .”

 Though Google plans on selling Performics , considering Matt’s experience with the Google algorithm, this could mean big advantages for the SEO provider…
